I’m not doing anything for Memorial Day Weekend (I never even remember holiday weekends now that I work for myself!). But in case you have a brunch to host, a beach picnic to shlep to, or barbecue to guest star at, here are some recipe ideas perfect for the unofficial start of summer.
Have a great holiday weekend!
Browned Butter Corn Cookies
With a sandy crisp from cornmeal, and the option of lime glaze or a lime zest sugar coating, these were one of my most popular recipes last year.

Blueberry Cornmeal Coffee Cake
Coffee cake’s signature ripple of cinnamon and brown sugar is replaced with a blueberry filling here.

Mango Coconut Terrazzo Pie
With mango jellies, a coconut milk panna cotta base and gingersnap crust, this one is a bit of a project, but has such a presentational payoff.

Raspberry Tiramisu
A lighter, colorful take on the dessert you can find on every Italian restaurant menu. A couple tablespoons of raspberry liqueur in the lady finger soak takes it over the top.

Lavender Berry Chocolate Bars
Floral flavors are divisive, I know, but I think I achieved the perfect balance of enough lavender to know its there and wow I’m eating soap.
Confetti Snacking Cake
With cream cheese buttercream. Funfetti is appropriate year-round, but this cake just says “party.”

Mini Cornbreads
Barbecue calls for cornbread, no? This recipe was inspired by my favorite cornbread in the world and is moist, plush, and sweet (sorry).
No-Bake Key Lime Tart
With a no-bake press-in cookie crust and a filling set with gelatin, there’s no need to turn your oven on.
Picnic Cake
What is picnic cake? It’s a cake you can take to a picnic! There are apparently many types but the one I grew up with had chocolate chips and a marshmallow topping. I developed a yellow cake recipe to upgrade from box mix, but you don’t have to.

Blueberry Pie Bars
Don’t let the lattice scare you: You can make the top crust any shape or design you want.

Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie
With peanut butter “magic shell” and chocolate covered Rice Krispies gravel between every layer.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble
Coincidentally a vegan recipe but you can also sub in regular butter.
I want that mango pie...
